Sunday, June 29th I will be doing this
Looking forward to it! That is the bike course I cycled last Sunday (plus 7k).
Can't wait to get the EPIC race kit I ordered eta June 16th. My plan is to wear it for Ironman Lake Placid. So, the EPIC race will be a perfect chance to make sure it fits well with no chafing issues more body-glide, chamois butter and Vaseline won't fix. Yep, gotta be well lubed to do these long distances.
Here is a preview of what the kit kinda looks like...this is the fantastically practical yet stylish windbreaker I use a lot. Can you spot the Statue of Liberty in the distance? Taken the day before the New York City Marathon - Nov. 4th, 2013.
Time to get training
Quick recap first
It has been a good week. Skipped Thursday as I donated blood and felt a bit fatigued in the morning but other than that I did all my workouts with no issues after last weekend's massive run - bike.
Great swims this week!
Tues 2900m - Wed 3300m - Fri 3500m. Best part I am finally feeling the "flow". There's a feeling I haven't felt all winter/spring - swims have been tough, like I'm fighting the water and not gliding on the surface. My breathing hasn't been as I like it and I've had some soreness and sometimes pain from "muscling" through my stroke. My kick has felt mechanical. I was starting to get worried. I was doing the distances and following the plans but not feeling efficient which is the ultimate goal so you don't come out if the water toast! This week it all came together. I am so relieved and delighted. The timing is perfect as soon I'll have to enter the lakes as cold as they will be.
Yesterday I did an hr bike, lunch run and a 1:27 swim.
Today... In a few minutes - 20 min recovery swim and a 3 hr run on the BLT trail. Home playtime with Sealey outside. Get Pitoune ready for tomorrow and playtime with Barry, supper, watch the end of Thor (had to go o bed midway thru!!) and early to bed.
Sunday - 7:30am departure from home to the Annapolis Valley gem of a town Wolfville where it is Apple Blossom Festival time. Won't stay in Wolfville too long but will have an "apple themed" treat - cider! Then cycle home - mostly uphill! 130k - gonna be a scenic one but a hard one! Then a 15 min run immediately.
