May 24-25 ... An EPIC training wknd and week!

Sunday May 25 - 2:30 run ... Zone 2 is slow so I amused myself counting my footstrikes or cadence. Did the flattest trail I know Rails to Trails also known as the BLT ... Saving some energy for Sunday!

Saturday May 24 - cycled the Epic course. Grateful to Paul Oliver and Pascal Osti for the company out to Musqudoboit Harbour 93,5 km and Kasia Daniger who cycled from there back to Dartmouth 93,5 km! My longest ride ever!!! And a terrific confidence builder. The most I'd ever done was 160 km two summers ago.
Time wise I completed exactly what I had planned. Avg speed 26,5 kph so 6hr48min for EPIC and Ironman Lake Placid - not too shabby given a stiff headwind on the way out, fog, showers and so cold our hands and feet were numb! The ride back was a bit better. I used my nutrition exactly as I want to on race day. Not nearly as hilly or mountainous as the Adirondacks (not even close) but I am very happy with my time. Total for 187 km - 7:05 and I ran for 15 min. It ok to good after five minutes

I didn't doubt that I could do the distance but it was stressful not having done it.

End of another big week...
To recap in the 8 days in Tucson with no work or home life stuff I cycled 496 km - ran 55 km - swam a mere 2000m due to allergies - oh and ride a horse for 3 hrs

This past 8 days with work, home life stuff I cycled 400 kms - ran 57 km - swam 3500m
