April 19th came and went - I didn't even know Birdie's monthly pre-50th birthday gift had arrived until Barry told me on the 22nd. I planned to wait til Goo Friday to open it as a treat but by Thursday evening, I could wait no longer.
There was an Easter card for the 3 of us and a special sister one for me and a great 50th card too! The line "don't think of it as turning 50, think of it as 5 perfect 10's! Oh and 2 pairs of Team Canada shades ... Neither o us can decide which we prefer so both it is!!
There were chocolates that didn't last :p
And a book that I have been wanting to read and will be perfect to take away with me to AZ.
Saturday after my long run I noticed that yet again my refurbished Garmin 405 was dying a slow painful death. It has been unpredictable over the last 6 months. My model is very outdated - it is my 3rd. I use it everyday I bike (cadence, distance, speed, heart rate, time) or run (all but cadence) = a lot. I'd be lost without it training and it would throw a major wrench in my race(s) if it konked out. The logical replacement is $499 which is not in my budget.
At my tri club AGM I bought $20 in tickets on this very special device and I WON!
Monday after another fab treatment with my Osteopath Jody Aitken (5 stars), I finally dropped of Pitoune to get new components installed. In the end only one fit her but it was the most important - DuraAce rear derailleur. Still need to get a 12-28 cassette and chain to help climb those Lake Placid hills! And a Power Tap hub power meter. I was hoping and praying for a decent tax refund.
That was the day I locked the keys in my car. So Barry wisely called our accountant and arranged to pick up our returns. I am getting a decent refund. It will pay for the items above and some of these trips I'm taking May, June (Seattle) July (Lake Placid). So that's #3
On Wednesday I arrived at work to find that my wonderful co-worker and friend Katerine was gifting me a perfect sundress and top - I would buy these! Very thoughtful!
