Wetsuit iPod Lap-Counter: IronBird 2014 spring/summer swim fashionista or gear pig?

XTERRA Vector Pro Wetsuit
I ordered my new xterra wetsuit on December 3rd and it arrived March 4th. It sat in the box until this morning partially due to no time to try it on and I admit, was nervous that it might not fit... it is March after all and I'm not yet at my optimal race weight let alone at the weight I intend to be when it's time to take it for a test plunge. I'm thrilled that it not only fit but it didn't choke me nor compress my chest. Now I'm a tad concerned it may be too big by race season as my other one had become by the end of last season. Hey, no worries - hell! I'd be happy to have to deal with that problem. lol!

So I went with the xterra brand this time instead of Blue Seventy which has been a fantastic wetsuit. There is nothing wrong with the old one. It is a lower quality. It was their mid-range at the time. I will use it for practicing expect for the lead up to the race so I get used to the new one. I had made a few small repairable tears that haven't leaked yet and which I must address (note to self).

Really relieved and happy with the fit. No problem getting it on or off.

Oh! my Halifax Triathlon Club members receive a discount on all xterra products but I bought it when they had a huge discount = a savings of $405!!! They manufacture them based on the orders at this time of year. I feared a bad tear just before the big race and having an unplanned big expenses $720 since I went with the Vector Pro model. Plus the stress of getting one fast, I'd rather avoid. It won't go to waste.

Underwater iPod Shuffle
The main Bird, BFF and Best Sister Ever surprised me last month with a very thoughtful and generous gift! She has decided to send me a present on the 19th of each month to count down my 50th birthday!!! How lucky am I eh?

The first gift I opened on Feb. 19th was an iPod shuffle with two different kinds of underwater ear phones. She loaded the 6 hours shuffle with modern day dance tunes and classic vintage tunes from our childhood and high school days, etc. It's a blast. I've even taken it on my long runs! So neat underwater though especially for long endurance swims I'm really getting into a rhythm and the time flies by!

SportCount Chrono 100 Lap-Counter

Here's their blurb ...
The Chrono 100 is our top of the line model. It is the best choice for coaches, serious athletes, and racers who need to record multiple lap times. Great for marathon runners, triathletes, and for those who want to monitor races or workouts lap by lap. It also has a PAUSE feature, so you can interrupt your workout without throwing off your timing statistics.
  • Recall up to 100 individual lap times
  • Recall fastest, slowest, average, and total lap times
  • Display split times and lap numbers
  • Total number of laps completed & total lap time
  • Water resistant to 50 meters
There are cheaper and more expensive ones. I love this one and I'm really happy with it. Bought one for myself and Bird for Christmas. She hasn't been able to use hers yet due to her shoulder surgery but I know she'll love it too!
