The Making of an IronBird ... my journey to Ironman Lake Placid

I AM AN IRONMAN IronBird! July 27/14 2014 at 50 yrs old, I finished my 1st Ironman race. 4 thunderstorms, hale, hot & humid but I rocked it in 13hrs 2 mins. So happy! Swim3.7km/Climb2m/Run1km/Bike180k/Run42.2k) This athletic journey & the race itself - I did mostly for myself. I'm blessed with a supportive, loving team of family & friends who let me pursue big dreams. THANK YOU 2 ALL WHO HELPED ME ON THIS LIFE-CHANGING JOURNEY FULL OF FOREVER MEMORIES. Race week #1 is here!!!!

Schedule for training is active taper... Workouts each day but not long and not too intense.

Lots to organize though... Lists upon lists to be race ready.

Exciting ... And scary!

But guess what?

I FEEL I AM READY TO BE EPIC!!!

As the race director just posted alot can change weather-wise in the Maritimes but we all are going to have to be prepared for warmer temperatures than we've had all Spring this race Sunday if the below forecast rings true. Adapting pacong, hydration and UV protection accordingly... A dry heat is fine but the humidity we get here can be draining. But hey rather this scenario to last year when it was cold, foggy and windy on raceday!
