EPIC Awards ceremony

For the most part, I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

HTC women sweep EPIC
Centre - Micheline McWhirter 1st place female, 3rd place overall, 1st place AG - 40s fastest bike, run etc etc - she's a machine but a wonderful one!
Left Jennifer Lewandowski 2nd place, 1st place AG - 30s. Jen is racing IM Canada (Whistler, BC) same day as I do IM Lake Placid. A beauty soul deep!
Right yours truly 3rd place, 1st place AG - 50s.

We may be decades apart age-wise but all friends, training sisters and love our sport passionately... Proving triathlon can be done well at any age and no matter how late you start.

Jen and I are already have our sights on Sweden to represent our country in the long course. Now to find the $ to do it and convince our men to jump on our bandwagon. Barry is in! If I can find the $ after paying for this year. I think I'll find a way. Don't you?
My friend and surrogate daughter who is 30 today on the 30th of June - happy champagne birthday Kasia. Her mum and I are the same age. She's a forever friend based in NS (very active duty Canadian Navy Reserve). We I met in France at the World Duathlon Championships! Kasia won 1st place in the Half Terra at EPIC - 90k bike & 21.1k run.

So proud of all of us!

There will be more "action" photos of me racing on Pitoune and running but for now... I have to congratulate and thank Tim Chesnutt the founder, race director of all the EPIC events.

He dares to dream big and I will always support this event. Year one, I was a volunteer who had the privilege to cycle the entire marathon run with the lead & 1st place Iron distance woman. Chantal was so amazing - a mum of a severely autistic child who lives in NB. She actually chatted with me the whole run. I'd ride ahead to aid stations to prepare them with what she needed. I learned that year the importance of grabbing 3 baggies of ice on a hot day and mimicked that yesterday. One in the front of the sports bra, one down the back and one to suck on the chips.

Last year I was a part of a team who are forever friends now. The two Danigier sisters and World Du/navy man and gentleman - Brian McBarron

This year 1k EPIC Swim and solo EPIC triathlon.

Next year? Who knows but I will do something to contribute to the longevity of this race weekend that also became the largest Kids triathlon in the country and there were EPIC road races too!

And a fabulous fireworks display at 10pm to end it all
